Howdy, y'all! Welcome to Crash Town! We want to have a friendly, safe, and happy place for people to connect and play. We also don't want to be unreasonably restrictive. Some rules are common sense rules that are seen everywhere, but there are some that are unique to this community. Rules may be modified at any time based on how gameplay evolves.
1. Be respectful of everyone. No godmodding and no hateful or rude comments directed at people or characters. Loving teasing is acceptable, but only if the player is asked first and is comfortable with it. Some people do not care for this, especially when it's hard to tell a person's intentions with such potentially hurtful comments online. Of course, this mainly applies to OOC interactions, but if your character is abrasive, it would be good to warn for that in case some don't know them.
2. Along those lines, OOC character-bashing is not acceptable. From Urban Dictionary: "Character bashing is the act of shaming, flaming and saying defamatory things about a fictional character. This is done to vent one's hatred for a character by relentlessly criticizing the character -whether it be just or unjust- or taking the characters negative traits and blowing it out of proportions which would leave behind only a hollow one dimensional husk." If you don't like a character, that's fine and there are often legitimate reasons to dislike certain characters. But you don't need to repeatedly bring it up or make hateful and derogatory comments about the characters. Especially in an RPG, where people play the characters and try to reach out to other people as the characters, it can be very hurtful to see their beloved characters and alter egos repeatedly put down.
3. This is a SFW zone. Keep it PG-13, please!
4. Players can play as many characters as they can handle. This may change in the future, depending on the number of players.
5. When filling out the character application, known canon as well as headcanon is acceptable. Just be sure to let us know which is which, especially for non-YGO characters we may not know!
6. Canon is considered anything featured in any official verse, from anime to manga to video game. Each is a separate but valid canon. Feel free to mix and match various details from across canons if that's how you see your version of a canon character. Also feel free to use Wikis for help, but Wiki information is not considered canon here if what's said cannot be verified by anime, manga, video game, or an interview with people working on the series. Anyone can edit them, and hence, they are not always right.
7. Around these parts, headcanon does not automatically equal canon divergence. Canon divergence is a backstory or personality or other important detail that actually causes your version of a character to go against what's definite in canon. Headcanon is fleshing out a character and may or may not go against what's shown in canon. Of course, this does get into sticky territory since sometimes people very sincerely have different ideas of what is definite in canon. For the purposes here, if it's not outright said or shown in some form of canon (anime, manga, video game, or official interview), it's not considered definite.
8. Along those lines, all headcanons and backstories for the characters must be accepted as real for those particular versions of the characters. I.E., if someone decides to make a Yami Marik who has repented, it must be accepted that that particular Yami Marik is good, even though other dimensional versions of Yami Marik existing through the town's portal will still be evil.
9. Dub and sub names and personalities are all welcome here. If someone prefers either dub or sub names, that's canon to their versions of the characters and should be respected as such.
10. Fandom OCs, CRAUs, and fleshing out minor canon characters are welcome. Many RP communities don't allow fandom OCs, but they are acceptable here. However, if your fandom OC is connected to a canon character, and that canon character is being played here, you must obtain permission from the canon character's player to bring in the fandom OC. Some players might not be comfortable having their canon character involved with an OC. If the canon character is free, please play your OC as coming from a particular dimension where they know each other so that if the canon character is picked up in the future, the player won't feel obligated to play in your dimension's headcanon if they would rather not.
11. Likewise, if your headcanon involves a canon/canon relationship, especially if it's not strictly canon, both players must agree on this too. We want play to be fun for all and for no one to feel forced to play or accept something they don't want.
